God I really hope they change the designs. We don't even need a lore reason, they aren't officially in the game yet. Just fuckin give the characters some melanin. And even if it wasn't just the cultural disrespect isn't everyone tired of the same pale character design at this point. And also you're definitely right about the character design in general. Some of the outfits and characters look like bad genshin ocs they shoved into the game.
I'm not even talking about the skin color at this point. I've accepted that hyv is a chinese company and wont do shit unless the CN community riots.
CASE in point. Spin-to-win Neuvi nerf was mass reported by the CN community as consumer fraud and I bet they're gonna fix that immediately.
It's just... idk common sense??? It may be a fictional world but it does take inspirations from Latin America / African that has... idk hot climates!! Therefore darker skin!! And for some reason you drop this pasty ass vampire cowboy lady???? In NATLAN???? Like they wouldn't get this much of a backlash if most of these characters we as black as Iansan atleast.
My gripe now is just the designs itself. The first 3 characters don't look that bad, i can get behind that. They're cute and colorwise very complimentary. Even the pyro archon(?) even though she looks like she doesn't even belong in Natlan, red black and yellow goes well together.
The cowboy and leopard lady tho...
ESPECIALLY the vampire cowboy goth lady. She literally is just beta clorinde they lazily put in Natlan for a bigger roster. I just hate how messy and out of place she looks even by Natlan's messy standards.
Feathery (?) strandy hat, very convoluted shirt (?), the long coat tails attacked to the short revealing shirt gimmick, pants that only has one leggings (????)
What is this? Genuinely. It's asymetry for the sake of asymetry. I hate it. Theres no purpose in this, this outfit highlights nothing. I see her and its just a blotch of black-purple-red with super contasting pasty pale skin. Worst of all she doesn't even look like she's from Natlan, she looks like a messy ruffed up travelling cowboy with none of those Natlan symbols or tattoos or patterns or anything. Just normal leather and straps.
It is ugly. It doesnt work. Its not nice to look at. I hope she doesnt play a role where she shows up on screen alot. Im sorry.
Same point for the leopard lady. Doesn't look Natlan at all. Just a leopard lady with revealing clothes. SHORT JEANS TOO MIGHT I ADD. Something you probably don't see in Natlan. She is less hated by me because atleast her color palette works.
Its facking Acheron again but I can excuse Archeron because ITS SPACE.
#yeah idk i just hate the cowboy lady the most#if iansan is with her im just skipping idc#this region looks so messy and thrown together randomly#it doesnt work#we have expectations for the land of war and aztec influenced country hyv set us up with#if they do this shit where oh look silly character is actually super serious and important to the plot bit like emilie#im gonna riot#and if you say 'just dont play the game'#BITCH I WANT TO#I WANNA RUN AROUND IN NATLAN AND JUMP INTO LAVA AND WALK AROUND AND SIGHT SEE#I WANNA WALK AROUND ANIME AFRICA#I DONT WANNA DO THAT WITH UGLY CHARACTERS#to hyv characters ARE content#they treat the process of building new characters and using them as content#SO MAKE GOOD CONTENT#lyssten to my rambles

Tens of thousands of Georgians have gathered in the streets of the capital, Tbilisi, in response to a call from the pro-Western president to press for the annulment of Saturday's election.
Earlier, President Salome Zourabichivili, who has sided with the opposition, called on Georgians to rally outside parliament, telling the BBC's Steve Rosenberg that this was a "crucial moment".
She appealed to the international community to stand behind her country's population after a disputed election that she says was "totally falsified".
The ruling Georgian Dream party and the election commission are adamant the result, giving the government almost 54% of the vote, was free and fair.
However, Zourabichvili urged Georgia's partners needed to see what was happening, adding that the government's victory was "not the will of the Georgian people" who wanted to keep their European future.
Zourabichvili made clear the protest would be "very peaceful", adding that she did not believe Georgia's authorities wanted confrontation.
It is not entirely clear what she and the four opposition groups hope to achieve by bringing Georgians on to the main avenue in front of the parliament on Monday.
"The main thing we want here is to get what we deserve - legal elections. No-one had any idea this would happen. At first we were frustrated, then we realised what happened and now we're angry," said Lasha, 22.
Liza, 20, said wanted "another election that isn’t forged".
"I’m really happy a lot of young people are here. Most of the speakers from the four opposition parties are saying don’t give up," she added.
Another protester, Keta, told the BBC that she felt "cheated and frustrated". "Me and my friends and my family deserve way better than we have right now... We will fight to the end until we get our justice."
The president said it was up to the people and the political parties to decide what happened next.
"My call was to have a demonstration but where does the Georgian population stand? It's what we're going to see tonight."
"Maybe we won't be able to achieve it today or tomorrow," she said.
"There are a number of things that can be done. There can be an international review of some of the elements of the election, there can be a call for new elections. In what period of time I don't know."
The European Union, Nato and the US have called for a full investigation into allegations by monitoring missions of vote fraud before and on the day of Saturday's vote.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that Georgians had a "right to see that electoral irregularities are investigated swiftly, transparently and independently."
She added that "Georgians, like all Europeans, must be the masters of their own destiny."
The call for protest echoes weeks of demonstrations that brought Tbilisi's central Rustaveli Avenue to a standstill for weeks earlier this year.
There were clashes with riot police, who responded with water cannon, tear gas and force, as Georgians tried to stop the government pushing through a Russian-style "foreign agents" law targeting media and civil society groups that have foreign funding.
Ultimately the protests failed and the EU froze Georgia's bid to join the 27-country union, accusing it of democratic backsliding.
The government has clearly prepared for further protests. Last week it emerged that the interior minister had bought new water cannon vehicles and other equipment for riot police, including lethal weapons, for use "when it becomes necessary".
Georgian Dream Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has told the BBC that alleged violations ahead and during the vote were confined to "just a couple" of polling stations. He said that "the general content of the elections was in line with legal principles and the principle of democratic elections."
But President Zourabichvili said the scale of election fraud was unprecedented: "Everything was used that we've ever heard of in this country in a parallel way."
She alleged that, before the elections, families who were dependent on state funds had seen their identity cards taken away.
At the time it was difficult to tell why, she said, but it then became clear the identity cards were being used for so-called carousel voting in Georgia's new electronic voting system - "when one person can vote 10, 15, 17 times with the same ID".
She has also described the result of the vote as a "Russian special operation", stopping short of accusing the Kremlin of direct intervention. Instead, she accused the government of using a "very sophisticated" Russian-inspired propaganda strategy.
The government has vehemently denied having anything to do with Russia, pointing out it is the only country in the region not to have diplomatic ties with Moscow.
Russia fought a five-day war with its southern neighbour in 2008 and still occupies 20% of Georgian territory.
The Kremlin has has denied having anything to with the election and ridiculed Georgia's pro-EU president, whose term in office comes to an end in December.
A handful of international leaders have congratulated Georgian Dream for securing a fourth term in office in the contested election, including Hungary's prime minister, Viktor Orban.
Orban was due to arrive in Tbilisi on Monday on a two-day visit that has annoyed several of his European partners because of the message it sends the Georgian government.
Germany's foreign ministry spokesman said the Hungarian leader could travel where he wanted, although it was clear he was not speaking on behalf of the EU.
Hungary currently holds the presidency of the EU, but foreign policy chief Josep Borrell stressed that it had "no authority in foreign policy".
"Whatever Mr Orban says in his visit to Georgia, he does not represent the European Union," Borrell told Spanish radio.

Why are people who look at comic books from a “critical real-world lens” so obsessed with identifying the one person who is “100% right”. That doesn’t even exist in the real world.
Lost Days wasn’t made to protest global issues. It is a comic book exploring fictional character Jason’s mental journey after being resurrected and regaining consciousness against his will and/or power. Now how dare this character, in his own story where he has his own personal objective, not go out of his way to make sure each individual child from the collective hundreds he saved from traffickers and the likes gets adopted into nice homes. Obviously we have to disregard any good he did or that he cares at all because all he did was kill the fucker at the top who was responsible. Winick also never fleshed out all 42 of the trafficked children into nuanced characters with their own thoughts and feelings which was apparently neglectful lol.
In regards to utrh, Idk what this person read but there were more drug dealers Jason didn’t kill than those he did. Not once did he ever say he wanted to eliminate the flow of drugs in the community. He took over the trade. Not to mention he explicitly stated control vs elimination is where his goals differed from Bruce’s pipe dream hence why he’s successful and Bruce is still failing. Obviously if you completely misunderstand the character’s motivations you’ll find issues that don’t exist.
People just don’t want stories to be about what they are about, huh.
#kelseethe#the dealers Jason killed met their fate because they either disobeyed him or were in his way. not because they sold drugs lol wtf#which that is obviously not a ‘😇’ thing but again who tf cares#it’s not like they were relief workers they were drug dealers. also this is a fictional story#anyway I think Jason typically not striking drug dealers and thieves in utrh demonstrates more forethought#than repeatedly throwing them in prison which will perpetuate the problem anyway#And doesn’t target the root either#Jason explicitly says he isn't trying to fix every single bad thing that can ever happen in the world.#because that isn’t feasible nor possible#no what he does is kill people who cause large amounts of immediate damage and that actually is a difference he can feasibly make#so why exactly would *Jason* being the one to forfeit his ideas be a demonstration of character growth#also#god forbid there be limitations to what Jason can do with the time and resources he has#And that he has his own plans and itinerary#because how dare he not properly fix every systemic/political issue in Russia Africa and the UK every other country he went to#nobody needs to ‘read theory’. I did that years ago in college this isn’t the same thing#And as for Gotham War … it feels like every new issue we win some we lose some#but also it’s funny that you’re saying ‘everyone pls listen to my rant & also ignore the recent comics that contradict what I’m saying’

eu4 gives me performance anxiety. i always feel like i should be near a world conquest in 1550 and not enjoying the game like i want to (slow paced, realistic, chill).
maybe i should slow the play speed even more. i play on 3 which is already a slow speed.
#eu4#in my current game as netherlands i conquered almost all of the low countries before admin tech 10#then i felt comfortable leaving the hre when i hit tech 10 and i can take the rest later (if ever#it's a great start but if you're netherlands you're already playing against 4 other ai colonisers which is not usually the case#if you play as a coloniser in the game since the netherlands isn't formed by the ai most games#so i just ignored the new world and focused on africa on the way to asia (until i get stronger or rich enough to hire mercs and take#historical voc lands and take colonial nations from other countries)#left to my own i'd paint the map through africa before reaching asia but i know i have to claim rich provinces fast#and i feel like i'm on a race against the ai#i'm fine never snowballing and conquering gb i just want to play the game#but i feel silently judged by the anti casual voices in my head#i wish therapy were cheaper

Why is that some country's EAS alarms are like "sorry to bother you, but you're about to die and should evacuate. Again, sorry for the interruption. Please have a good day" and then other EAS alarms are like "You are already dead. There is no sleep when the rapture is on its way. Tell your family you love them and pray that any God let's you into heaven"
#seriously though#some of these countries have terrifying eas alarms#have you heard some of the alarms from the middle east and africa?#theyre nightmare fuel#meanwhile scotland has deep bell sound to alert people theyre going to die#I could easily sleep through some of these alarms and then others I would need new pants#if I heard some of these alarms in the proper context istg I would think Armageddon is happening#shout out to all the people who have to deal with traumatizing alarms that some of these countries have#and Im very sorry if you have to hear them when its not a drill

when people complain about the un and international law being useless... look
I don't think (many) people fundamentally understand what the UN is, what international law is, and what they can and cannot do
the UN and international law in general are... quite imperfect and bureaucratic systems which are heavily politicised but it's like. a better world to be in where they do exist than one where there is not. I like the Universal Declaration of Human Rights! I love the self-determination article in the subsequent human rights treaties and how decolonising countries in the 1940s-1970s played a crucial role in shaping the current system.
international law gives us benchmarks, lines in the sand to point out and articulate why someone something did was illegal without running into the issue of ex post facto law, which was an issue in the nuremberg trials, but I digress.
the UN is not a governing body. it has no independent political power.
international law, at the end of the day, is based on the consent of states. whether you like it or not, international law is a horizontal system.
most people are much more familiar with domestic law which is vertical and has clear enforcement mechanisms. international law, particularly international human rights law, has fucking shit enforcement mechanisms. it's all consent based, it's heavily politicised and it's woefully underfunded. sanctions are terrible. humanitarian interventions often go terribly wrong.
but they give structure, and guidelines, and things for civil society to point at and say: you have fucked up. you have breached xyz treaty article, as seen in abc treaty body decision or general comment.
I guess I'm real tired of people acting like international law and the UN are useless or a net negative. like. there are a lot of issues. but it's more complex than 'good' versus 'bad'.
the power imbalance between countries and the veto power of the security un council in particular are stupid but products of historical reality and compromise. international law is built on compromise.
anyway keep on holding the west accountable for the treaties they helped create and signed. unfortunately the united states is weak and has not ratified as many treaties as it should have but what state has ratified which treaty is publicly available information and so are the treaties.
#in unrelated news I took an international human rights law class so like#I know what I'm talking about#you are mad at double standards!#the issue isn't that the ICC is prosecuting x county it's tjat they're not also prosecuting y!#ugh nuisance#anyway contact your local representatives and just#point to the international treaty and be like: hey stop being a fucking coward and uphold your international obligations#europe has the best legal system in place for enforcing human rights#latin america's court is pretty cool and africa's is developing#anyway shaming countries is unfortunately a legit enforcement mechanism for international law#united nations

i just learnt that the continents that you learn in school depend on the country, and that some countries teach in schools that there are 7 continents and other teach that there are 6, but there are also models that only count 5 or even 4 continents
#i just thought i wasn't up to date with our geological research#cause i was taught that america is just one big continent#(and then there's europe asia africa australia and antarctica)#and i when i saw people saying that north america and south america are two different continents i was confused#turns out that's the model used in english-speaking countries#and that romance-speaking countries usually consider america one big continent#so that's interesting#one new thing i've learnt i guess!!

I really do have a special talent of apparently being very approachable. When I was walking through the ward, I saw a person waving and smiling at me behind the glass door. I only saw him once before, briefly. He asked me if I wanna go outside to smoke and have a chat. I had just came back from smoking and had ergotherapy in like 2 minutes but if someone offers me to chat, who am I to turn it down? So we went downstairs and now we're friends and I'll bring him nail polish tomorrow 😅
#personal posts#I just assumed getting approached by random strangers all the time is just part of the normal human experience#but then I went on a trip with someone and they pointed out to me that it's strange how many people approached me in the streets#I don't know what it is about me#maybe I just look very non-threatening lol#but whatever this is it's the trait I like the most about myself#I know others get really uncomfortable when strangers talk to them#but I like listening#I've heard so many life stories#a long lost love in Africa#the loneliness of being all by yourself in a foreign town#moving to a foreign country and leaving your family behind#Searching for a new place to live#hospitals and struggles with money and the heat that is so different here#and how many souls are there?#I love listening#I literally remember every single one of these strangers#even if I don't always get to know their names

i understand that people generally don't mean for it to come off this way but it always peeves me when ameribrits and co talk about the state of lgbtqa+ rights in other counties as if homophobia and transphobia present there are a virus or some boogeyman that is going to breach containment and come for them. like oh what's this??? here comes christianity with a steel chair!! guess what our bigotry is your bigotry buddy. it always has been
#it's always like oh isn't it so scary what is happening in those countries they're so backwards#hey quick question who brought say catholicism to the continent of africa who could it have been#i'm watching hozier's new album interview and i respect him and value what he says but he was talking about the story behind tmtc mv#something about how he said 'it's a culture that can cross borders and now it has' referring to the rise of homotransphobia in the us#i think many ameribritcetera consciously or unconsciously believe that their countries are some beacons and trailblazers of human rights#and everyone else with rare exceptions needs to have the light brought to them or else they're trying to take it away#which is ironically the most christian shit ever#i guess what i'm trying to say is that bigotry ripples#it doesn't come from one place and requires the right conditions to flourish#for example the rise of transphobia in the world is absolutely stoked by jk rowling so can we say that it came from england?#i mean putin literally referenced her in his speech#not really that garbage was already around she just set it on fire#bigotry doesn't 'come' from anywhere it doesn't 'cross borders' it lives everywhere waiting for an opportunity#splitting the world into countries that stand against homophobia and countries that bring it doesn't help it dehumanises and divides us#(alsoiknowthathozierisirishthatwasnotthepoint)

every canadian whining in the notes of my world tour post about how only like one or two cities in their country get a show and therefore they shouldn’t be included in the ‘world tour!!!’ section over north america needs to know that i’m trying to explode them with my mind
#i don’t care if only Vancouver and Toronto and sometimes Montreal get shows I don’t care that it’s less shows than the US#South America get single festival dates if that most of the time. mainland Europe get a show every other country at most#Australia and New Zealand get one date in two or three cities at most and are rarely included on regular tour cycles#not to mention artists act like anything other than east Asia doesn’t exist at all#and make zero attempt to tour anywhere in Africa at all#anyway. Canadians shut up this isn’t about you#Alex talks
